While planning your trip budget plays a vital role to not overspending at random places.In this article we will cover geneva, bern and lucerne to plan your 7 day trip with affordable places for accommodation and food.
While looking for accomodation is one of a task to look at because of variety of options but there are some options you can consider:
- You can consider staying at hostels,guesthouses or can opt for Airbnb rather than going for hotels to be easy on your pockets.
- Look for deals on websites like Hostelworld or Booking.com.
- If you are travelling in group consider renting an apartment, which would be an affordable option.
Next we will talk about some food options :
- Avoid eating out at hotels all the time to save some money.
- You can cook your own meals at home sometimes at your apartment or Airbnb.
- Do you research for special hour meals or discounts which would be fun to explore cheap meals
- Explore some turkish food outlets, they offer cheap food like durums, pide or pizza which cost way less than other restaurants.
Transportation
- Buy a swiss travel pass from app SBB.
- Travel to different places with buses or trains with a swiss travel pass valid all across switzerland.
- Try renting bike for fun experiences.

Day 1-Arrive in Zürich (ZRH) and take a train to Bern (1 hour 30 minutes).
- Check into your hostel or guesthouse in Bern.
- Visit the EinsteinHaus located in Kramgasse, bern.
- Visit the Zytglogge, a medieval clock tower, and the Bärengraben, a bear pit where Bern's beloved bears live.
- Have dinner at a local restaurant in the Old Town.
- Take a walk along the Aare River.
- Visit the Swiss Museum of Fine Arts, which offers free admission on Wednesdays.
- Visit the Einstein Museum, which offers discounted admission for students and seniors.
Day 3-
- Take a day trip to Thun, a charming town located on Lake Thun.
- Take a walk around the Old Town and visit the Thun Castle.
- Take a boat trip on Lake Thun.
- Have dinner at a restaurant on the lakeshore.
Day 4-
- Take a train from Bern to Geneva. (1 hour 45 minutes)
- Check into your hostel or apartment.
- Visit the St. Pierre Cathedral, a Romanesque cathedral.
- Visit the Jet d'Eau, a fountain that shoots water up to 140 meters into the air.
- Visit a local restaurant in the old Town of Geneva.
Day 5-
- Visit the Palais des Nations, the headquarters of the United Nations.
- Visit the Jardin Botanique, a botanical garden that offers free admission on Mondays.
- Have dinner at a restaurant in the Quartier des Grottes.
Day 6-
- Take a train from Geneva to Lucerne (1 hour 45 minutes).
- Check into your hostel or guesthouse in Lucerne.
- Visit The Lion Monument, it is a rock carving honoring the Swiss Guards who died in the French Revolution.
- Take a boat ride in lake lucern.
- Have a fancy dinner in a local resturant on the lakeshore.
Day 7 -Depart from Zurich Airport.
